LOCALMONERO
LocalMonero, AgoraDesk and OpenMonero alternatives
LocalMonero / AgoraDesk
The former LocalMonero (localmonero.co) and AgoraDesk announced their closure in 2024: new trades ended on 14 May, with the website shutdown scheduled for 7 November. Localmonero.io is a separate service; old accounts, balances and reputation are not transferred here.
OpenMonero
OpenMonero (openmonero.co) describes a P2P marketplace for buying and selling XMR, with seller bonds and arbitration. Check each offer’s payment methods, limits, price and dispute rules on its own site. This is a different model from the direct, manually handled purchase offered here.
Compare Monero purchase services and P2P platforms
This independent service is not the continuation of the former LocalMonero service and has no official affiliation with the Monero Project, CoinGecko / CoinPaprika or Hodl Hodl. Seller reviews linked from Hodl Hodl concern trades there, not XMR purchases here.
Compare the trading model
Direct sellers, P2P marketplaces with escrow and custodial exchanges have different counterparty risks. Ask who controls the funds, when payment becomes due, how Monero is released and who can decide a dispute. Do not assume that every P2P service uses escrow.
Compare total cost and access
Compare the quoted Monero quantity for the same euro spend, markup, platform fees, bank charges, withdrawal fees and limits. Check availability and verification requirements directly with each service; those terms change and depend on the user and location.
Where LocalMonero fits
LocalMonero creates a direct contract with manual seller approval and bank-receipt verification. It sends XMR to the supplied wallet and does not provide escrow or independent dispute arbitration. The linked rsad5 reviews are historical Hodl Hodl reviews, not reviews of LocalMonero contracts. Read the pricing, risks and terms before choosing.
